The District budget vote is scheduled for this Tuesday, June 9th in each of our communities. In addition to the district budget, which is up only 1.998% locally, there is a second item to vote on this year, the additional local cost sharing formula. A community champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.

We're excited to announce the spring community champion award at Mill Stream goes to Eleasha Works!

Eleasha has gone above and beyond to create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for our first grade students by organizing a wool workshop that truly brought our community into the classroom.

Eleasha collaborated with several local community members to design and facilitate an engaging workshop centered around wool. Students were given the unique opportunity to explore materials and participate in a hands-on experience that connected learning to the real world. She thoughtfully coordinated with community partners, ensuring that their knowledge and expertise were shared in a way that was accessible and exciting for young learners. Her efforts strengthened the connection between our school and the wider community, creating a sense of shared purpose and pride.

Thank you for all you do, Eleasha, weโ€™re so fortunate to have you as a part of our community.

๐Ÿค๐Ÿ“š Adopt-a-Classroom Connection Continues!

Our third graders were excited to welcome back their high school mentors for another meaningful Adopt-a-Classroom visit this week!

During this visit, high school students continued sharing their postโ€“high school plansโ€”whether college, career pathways, or other future goalsโ€”and took time to talk with younger students about what those journeys might look like. ๐ŸŽ“โœจ

These conversations are helping our third graders begin to imagine their own futures while building confidence, curiosity, and big dreams for what comes next.

We are so grateful for these powerful connections between students and the opportunity for learning to extend beyond the classroom walls. ๐Ÿ’›

Kindergarten students in Ms. Lโ€™s room are stepping into the role of published authors! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š
As part of their learning, students have been writing their own fictional narratives, pouring their creativity into stories they are proud to share. The excitement is building as they prepare to read their work to their 5th grade book buddiesโ€”what a special audience!
This authentic experience not only strengthens their writing skills but also builds confidence and a love for storytelling. We are so proud of these young authors and canโ€™t wait to see their stories come to life! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐ŸŽญโœจ A Cultural Experience for Third Grade!

Our third grade students recently enjoyed a special trip to the Waterville Opera House for a wonderful cultural experience!

While there, students had the opportunity to watch a live performance of The Little Prince, bringing this beloved story to life right before their eyes. From the excitement of the stage to the beauty of the historic theater, it was a truly memorable experience.

Opportunities like this help deepen studentsโ€™ understanding of storytelling while exposing them to the arts in an engaging and meaningful way.

A special thank you to our PTG for helping make this incredible experience possible! ๐Ÿ’›โœจ

On Wednesday evening, we had the honor of celebrating 35 incredible 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders in MSAD 54 as they received the Maine College Circle Future of Maine Aspirations Scholarship at Skowhegan Area High School. Selected from over 300 applications, these students stood out with their creativity, ambition, and hard work.

We are especially proud of the 15 recipients from our Mill Stream Elementary Schoolโ€” thank you for representing our school, and congratulations on this incredible achievement.

A big thank you goes to the event sponsors, Skowhegan Savings Bank, Franklin Savings Bank, and Redington Fairview General Hospital. Thank you for always supporting our students' dreams, you made all of this possible!

A community champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.

Mill Stream was buzzing with excitement this week as our first graders hosted their very own Market Place! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ
Students brought their learning to life by applying their knowledge of goods, services, and resources in a hands-on, real-world experience. They designed and created their own unique products, carefully priced them to sell, and developed eye-catching marketing signs to attract customers.
Kindergarten and second grade students had a blast shopping, while our first graders practiced important skills like decision-making, communication, and entrepreneurship.
It was incredible to see their creativity, teamwork, and pride shine through in every booth. What a fun and meaningful way to learn!

Students brought their learning about animal defense mechanisms to life by designing incredible paper mรขchรฉ headdresses representing their animals. They also showcased their writing through imaginative choose-your-own-adventure narratives and performed engaging readers theater pieces highlighting each animal in its habitat.
To top it all off, they shared their projects with an audience of third gradersโ€”teaching, performing, and inspiring all at once! An amazing celebration of creativity, collaboration, and learning! ๐Ÿ‘โœจ
